Not only your skin, but your hair too. Shouonkai launches the “Beautiful Hair Clinic”

In aesthetic medicine, the focus is not limited to the skin and facial contours.

Hair volume, bounce, and strength—and how noticeable the parting is—have a significant impact on a person’s impression and confidence. Yet even when people notice hair loss or changes in hair quality, many continue to struggle alone, thinking, “It’s just age,” or “I don’t know where to seek advice.”

To respond to these voices, Shouonkai, a general incorporated association supported by BIB & Co. in beauty clinic management, has newly launched the “Beautiful Hair Clinic” at Yokohama Yamate Clinic and Y.CLINIC.

An outpatient service within a beauty clinic that addresses women’s hair concerns

The Beautiful Hair Clinic we have opened is not limited to women experiencing thinning hair or hair loss.

It is an outpatient service that comprehensively assesses, from a medical perspective, age-related hair changes such as finer hair, reduced volume at the crown, a more noticeable parting, and decreased bounce and strength compared to before.

Changes in women’s hair are influenced not only by aging, but also by a complex interplay of factors such as hormonal balance, stress, the autonomic nervous system, nutritional status, excessive dieting, lifestyle habits, and scalp condition.

For this reason, rather than recommending a single product or procedure, it is essential to first assess the condition of the hair and scalp and then develop an approach tailored to each individual.

From “hair loss treatment” to “medical care that nurtures beautiful hair”

Conventional hair treatments have typically been discussed primarily in terms of addressing thinning hair, such as “stopping hair loss” or “promoting hair growth.”

However, what women truly seek is not simply an increase in the number of hairs.

Hair with bounce and strength.
A naturally lifted crown.
A parting that is less noticeable.
Being able to enjoy the hairstyle you like.
Regaining a sense of yourself when you look in the mirror.

We believe it is necessary to consider the beauty of the hair as a whole. To express value that cannot be fully conveyed by the word “treatment” alone, we adopted the name “Beautiful Hair Clinic.”

Combining oral medication, topical treatment, and scalp-focused approaches

At Yokohama Yamate Clinic, we propose treatment plans tailored to each patient’s condition and preferences, combining oral medications, topical medications, and injection therapies for the scalp.

For women’s hair treatment, we offer minoxidil to promote hair growth, spironolactone used to help suppress the progression of hair loss, and topical minoxidil formulated for women.

In addition, as a method to directly target the scalp—an area that oral and topical medications may not reach sufficiently—we have introduced mesotherapy using formulations that include growth factors.

What matters is not applying all treatments uniformly.

While confirming overall health status and the risk of side effects, the physician designs the treatment plan not only around “what to do,” but also “what not to do.”

Making the scalp and hair condition visible

A key characteristic of hair concerns is that it is difficult for patients themselves to accurately understand their condition.

The feeling of “I think my hair has decreased recently” cannot be determined by appearance alone—whether it is due to increased shedding, hair miniaturization, or changes in the scalp environment.

At the Beautiful Hair Clinic, we use a microscope to check scalp dryness, the condition of sebum and buildup, hair thickness, density, and more.

By visualizing the condition, we have created an environment where patients can understand the current state of their hair and scalp and begin treatment with confidence.

Creating a new outpatient service is not the same as adding a new medical specialty

When introducing a new treatment menu at a beauty clinic, simply adding procedures or medications does not create a service that will be chosen continuously.

Whose concerns are you addressing, and what kind?
How will you communicate the difference from existing services?
From the first visit through treatment, testing, and follow-up, what kind of patient journey will you create?
How will you prepare options that patients can continue without strain?

Only with this series of designs in place does it function as a true outpatient service.

For this Beautiful Hair Clinic, we built everything as an integrated whole—not only organizing the medical content, but also the concept design, naming, web page, how to communicate with patients, and in-clinic operations.

This is also an initiative that translates into real clinical practice the concept BIB & Co. values in beauty clinic management consulting: “designing the reason patients come as a structure.”

From a place to refine the skin to a place that supports beauty comprehensively

Beauty clinics have the potential to notice changes even before patients can put their concerns into words.

Someone who visits for skin concerns may, in fact, also be worried about hair volume.
They may assume it is an age-related change and not realize it can be treated.
They may have tried over-the-counter products without seeing results and are looking for someone to consult.

By carefully deepening dialogue with existing patients, these latent needs become visible.

The launch of the Beautiful Hair Clinic is not simply about increasing the number of treatment menus.

Skin, facial contours, the body—and hair as well. Rather than segmenting patients’ beauty and health concerns into parts, it is a step toward evolving into a clinic that supports the person’s overall impression and daily life.

Putting it into practice on-site and applying what we learn to the next support

In BIB & Co.’s beauty clinic management consulting, we do more than provide external advice—we enter actual clinic operations, design services, implement them, and continuously improve while operating them.

This Beautiful Hair Clinic is also an initiative built across medical care, management, branding, patient acquisition, and operations, based on patient feedback generated on-site.

You are considering entering a new clinical area.
You offer hair loss treatment, but it is not sufficiently recognized.
Your procedure menu has expanded, making it difficult to communicate what distinguishes your clinic.
You want to connect existing patients’ needs to new clinical services.

At BIB & Co., we address these challenges by designing not from adding menus, but from the mechanisms that enable a clinic to be chosen continuously.

Standing between medical care and management, and between the clinic director and patients, to build a clinic brand that grows over the long term.

While continuing to build on our practice at Shouonkai, we will keep returning these insights to the field of aesthetic medicine.
